My Classmates Experiences in Food

After reading fellow classmates blogs on their latest meal I realized how lucky I was to have been one of the few to talk about a home cooked meal.  Most often the latest meal eaten was Sodexo Dorm Food. While I have recently been eating meals at home, I am no stranger to their experiences with cafeteria food.  While my meal was lovingly made and enjoyed with friends and family, the meals in the dorm were rushed, often eaten alone and definitely not enjoyed thoroughly.  Having the opportunity to decide what one wants to eat, then getting to prepare it is a task people often take for granted.  It seems a burden to have to make ones own food.  After spending nearly 6 months eating dorm food one realized how nice it is to decide to make dinner rather than choosing from the option of three fairly unhealthy dishes.  Eating out of convenient stores and prepackaged food on the run from class to class is another unhealthy habit many of us have acquired. Food is culturally something that brings people together, through the happiness of eating and sharing something, yet through the dorm food it clearly is a rushed and uneventful part of the day.
